calblacksmith Posted January 3, 2014 Report Share Posted January 3, 2014 What grinds my gears is some people obsessing about their equipment or joinery being off by point something with 3 zeros. Especially when they say they can see it. Really ... if you require a feeler gauge to measure it ... LOL, I understand but .... off is off! I think it may have a little to do with our daily jobs. I work Aerospace, we measure in thousandths, we get 7 of them for tollerance, more than that and it is rework time. Once you are used to "seeing" things in that perspective, it is hard to let go. I built a book shelf once, it was out of square by 1/64" and it drove me nuts, at least until I stepped back and realized that it did not matter at all, like I said, it is hard to let go!
