Ben@FineWoodworking
Started designing my first piece of furniture in Sketchup a couple of days ago. I finally have it at a place I am happy with. I was just wondering if you guys have any ideas or concerns with the design. I plan on building two to flank our harmonium (looks like a piano) in our dining room. On one I would like to have our CDs, LPs, record player and one speaker. The other would have the second speaker and books. As you can see I have three main shelves on the top and I plan on putting shorter shelves attached with pegs above them for a second row of cds. This would only be on the "media" shelf. The idea came from a piece in Niall Barrett's book Bookcases on Taunton Press. Any ideas or concerns? This picture is of the main structure. This will be out of furniture grade plywood... I'm thinking cherry right now. Here it is with trim and the extra CD shelves. Just having a little more fun. Here it is loaded up. Thanks, Ben
cmbp
Ben, Just wondering if you need to think about isolating the vibrations from the speaker from the record player. -Chris

You'd have thought I would remember that from when I was a kid. I put both speakers right next to the turntable once... my Dad just laughed at me. Hmmm... TO THE DRAWING BOARD!!!
