harderd
This is a piece my grandfather made. Some how my brother aquired it from my uncle. It was started in 1931 and completed in 1934. Sorry about the poor pictures, I only had my cell to take them. I am told there is over 2300 pieces in it. Enjoy!!!
Vic
Wow..lots of inlay..nice piece. If you can, get us a better quality pic. Have your brother photograph it. Looks like it was some pretty great work, but can't tell for sure with those pics. Very cool that you're following in your Grandfather's tradition. I am trying to get better pictues but may have to wait until I am back up in April. I also have a table and lamp of my Grandfathers also with a lot of inlay. He used a lot of ivory, mother of pearl and ebony in almost every piece he did. He liked to use the grain patterns to create optical illusions. As for following in his tradition, I think I do decent work, but I am not capable of anything like this. You just don't see this kind of work anymore, it took him almost three years to build this. Lawrence Brown
Amazing. Was the box made to contain anything in particular?
