iSawitFirst
A couple of months ago there were some posts pondering what makes a work of art - well, art, and what is beauty?. While looking at some past Ted Talks on YouTube tonight I found this and thought everyone here might enjoy it. It turns out that we do woodworking for primal reasons that go back to homo erectus and his hand axes. Stay with this through the end and you'll learn things about yourself. jhl.verona
Hmm, thought provoking video... Intelligence, Fine motorial control, Planning ability, Conscientiousness, Access to rare materials. Sounds like woodworking to me. Perhaps not the last one, but give it a hundred years! Thanks for pointing it out, iSawitFirst. Got a project for a purple heart ornate flint stone?
Dave F
Starting at 11:00 min.. "Their symmetry, attractive materials and meticulous workanship..." Really enjoyed it. Never thought of woodworking as being primal. Interesting & logical theory. SQ
