dtrust
Well, after seeing so many of these thngs online, thought I'd try one. So far, not too hard. Here's a pic of the first part of the process. And a link to some other pics of the pieces cut out. http://picasaweb.google.com/don1960/BandsawBox#

dtrust
Thanks Mike. I've got a loonnnng way to go before it's done. I just glued all the pieces back together a bit ago, and after today the sanding begins. LOL. If I knew it was actually going to turn out to be in one piece instead of me sawing thru some part of it that shouldn't have been, I'd have used better wood. As it it, it's made of a leftover piece of oak and 2 pieces from a 2x10 hunk of pine from an old waterbed frame. :-) If this turns out OK, the next one will be Maple and Purpleheart. Link to pic. http://dtrust.smugmug.com/gallery/11671471_i2bwC#1113079039_XGXou-XL-LB I think I shall make more of these. It was fun.
TexWood
Very nice. I really like the contrast with the drawer pulls.
dtrust
Very nice. I really like the contrast with the drawer pulls. Thanks Texwood. They were made from a piece of bloodwood I had laying around. Not the best shape for them, but since everything else was freehand..... dtrust
Great......now i've gotta go out and buy and band saw!!!! This place is bad for my portfolio! Tell me about it. A year ago all I had was a 30 year old table saw and a set of screwdrivers.
mr.graham
Very impressed, the bandsaw is still somewhat of a mystery to me. That's a very nice piece, also nice cutting boards as well!!

dtrust
Thanks for the kind words, Ronnie & Mr. Graham. These things are fun to make. I have two more puzzles to cut out on the scrollsaw and then I'm going to attempt one of Marc's puzzle boxes.

Scott Great. The best part is that you can (almost) not make a mistake. However you cut out the drawers, well, "Yea, that's what I meant to do".
