wouldwurker
Should be the last coat (4th) of dewaxed clear shallac.....after 3 costs of Danish Oil...as inspired by WTN's boxes and guidance through the process. I finally get the whole shellac thing now... It really does feel and look much nicer than my usual arm-r seal finish ...in certain applications. Much more close to the wood and classic furniture feel. I still think I'd always have to use some oil underneath though. wouldwurker
Gave it a final rubdown with 0000 steel wool and some johnsons paste wax. Buffed out to a soft luster Been thinking about the pulls for a while.....Started with a 3/4 Purple Heart 'clown nose' dowel...but it was a bit over the top (said the guy with calcite and paduak shavings floating in epoxy)......eventually settled on pulls shaped like the drawers....traced the drawers onto paper, scanned, shrunk, and printed. Made my tiny pulls out of the same soft maple. It's a busy enough box...not a time to add more contrast.
wtnhighlander
Nice work, Vinny! The finish looks great. Good choice on the pulls, I think.
