RobDryman
I built the WW's keepsake box for my 6 yo son the other day. He was so excited with the secret opening trick that he begged me to allow him to take it to school. I said sure, and when he came home with this I was shocked. He still won't confess to how it happened, but I have a pretty good idea. Being cherry, with a walnut dowel, I think feet were involved. I doubt I could have broken that dowel with my hands! Anyway I plan to remake the corner piece with a new dowel and either epoxy or CA glue the crack in the base and clamp it up to repair...any advice on which to use? Or another method of repair? Ben@FineWoodworking
I'm sure he learned a lesson. What that lesson is you'll never know. He does though. He'll look at that box years and years from now and giggle. Maybe he'll tell his son what happened.
PaulMarcel
Bummer, and it looks like a very nice box! Well, I'd use CA. CA excels at a very thin glueline that's clear. Epoxy can't be as thin and it cures more yellow. Is it a clean crack? Can you squeeze it together and make it more or less disappear? flairwoodworks
I would use thin-viscosity CA glue.
