jasonjarrard
need to make a 1/4 in kerf cut for a box joint, wondering if i stack two identical blades in my saw would that be ok and would it work
PaulMarcel
As long as the teeth can be stacked between each other, it should work fine; likely only possible with rip blades. One catch is that two 1/8" blades stacked like you suggest won't make 1/4" groove. The plate of the blade is < 1/8" and as you'll have the blades "plate to plate", with the teeth interleaved on the circumference, the kerf they'll cut isn't 1/4". You need a blade with a flat grind, or an ATB+Raker. It might be easier to make one cut on the far side of your cut from the fence, and shim your cut over by 1/8" and make a 2nd cut. There are lots of ways to skin a cat. This is America, you can do whatever you want.

Agree, this is the best way to make this cut without a dado stack. Also agree it's best to use a rip blade (flat grind) to make the cut.
