davewyo
I wanted to get back to folks on these rasps. I got a couple of half-rounds; coarse and fine. That's the #872523, 25x8x250 mm, 12 teeth per cm squared and # 872572, 20x6.5x200mm, 22 teeth/ cm2 These are really aggressive; even the "fine" one. The handles seemed chunky and inelegant when I first held them, but during use they feel quite good. I've only used hardware store rasps in the past (like this and this) and I found the Narex rasps to be noticeably nicer. I'm sure the $100+ rasps are better but, if you're on a budget, these do the job. If they had an "extra-fine" with something like 32 t/cm2 I would like that. I took a piece of walnut, marked some lines. and worked my way there with the coarse, the fine, and then hit it lightly with some 120 grit paper for less than a minute. I'm happy with the results. Then I took a few passes to show the way they cut: http://http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww230/davewyo/IMG_1516_zpswqq1trwz.jpg[/IMG] Sorry, something's going wrong with my posting photos. The link seems to work.
