Popular Post Tom King
I was getting ready to build an airplane when I met the girl who would become my wife. I'd bought the plans, some tools, and some aluminum to start building a Thorp T18. First were the wing ribs which were aluminum formed over plywood forms. The plans had full size templates for the ribs. The only thing I got to was making the plywood rib forms. This plan stopped when I found out that the one time Pam had gone up in a plane, it didn't land. It crashed. She wouldn't go up in a plane for anything. I used to get free trips to Hawaii when I was a sponsored windsurfer, and finally did get her drunk enough to go one time, but I thought I'd have to leave her over there. Leaving off the rest of that story, I'm getting ready to put up some expensive aluminum gutters, and decided that I want to use aircraft rivets instead of pop rivets. The pneumatic gun, and accessories have been in the same toolbox since 1976 or 7. I had never even put compressed air in it. I carried it to work yesterday, put an air hose quick disconnect in it, and pressurized it. Nothing. I put oil in both ends, and left it until today. I tried to take it apart, but bent an Allen wrench trying to take out the "key" that holds it together. I thought it might have some insect residue in it or something. Last night I put several used ones in my ebay watch list thinking I might have to buy another one. Pressurized it again this morning, and still nothing. Then I thought I'd put something down the front end where the hammer is and whack it. Found a big pin punch, and gave it a good whack. It went right to work like a new one!
..Kev
That's the way those guns work.. I have a few of them as I used to do a lot of that work in the Air Force. Good luck with your project!

Tom King
Actually, Dos Equiis was my beer until a couple of years ago when I quit drinking. I've seen it take down too many of my friends. I was never a windsurfing champion. I made a few top tens, but an East Coast guy didn't have a chance against the guys who live where there is big wind every day of the year. I did win Championships in all sorts of other sailing craft-Pam and I made a living for three years racing a Hobie 21 on the Prosail circuit back in the '80s. I'd still be doing that but RJ Reynolds pulled the sponsorship about the same time they did from Nascar. It was the Salem Prosail Series, although no one I knew then racing smoked.
