Anthony C
I'm considering stain a porch swing that'll be outdoors in Ohio...every season imaginable. Im putting CPES and epifanes topcoat overtop of stain. Everything i can find that is considered an "outdoor stain" has an acrylic and/or latex base which is contraindicated with CPES. Says to use an oil based stain only however the only oil based in can find are indoor use only. Any suggestions on stains I can use for this project? Brands, types, etc?? davewyo
I would say go for consistency in manufacturers and consider something like this Epifanes stain if you can find the color you like. Of course, try some samples on scraps...
Anthony C
Yes it has a roof but no walls so depending on wind exposure will be at a minimum
Anthony C
I was thinking I'd put the stain down first and allow to fully cure usually 4 days to a week. Then apply cpes and topcoat. That was the recommended sequence by the cpes manufacture for new wood application. Im thinking I may be able to get away with an indoor stain considering the UV exposure will be minimal due to being under cover and the epifanes has a UV protectant as well as reflective high gloss finish to make up for any UV coming in from the side. What do you think?
