treesner
Hey guys building a shelf with some drawers got any suggestions on how to do a drawer stop? I don't have a lip around my frame like normal drawers. My thought was drill in a magnet into the top of the frame and then insert a little metal dowel that hung down 1/4 so the end of the drawer would hit on it. If I needed to remove the drawer than pull out the dowel Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ronn W
If your drawer bottom is about 1/4" or more above the bottom of the front, just glue a couple of blocks about 1/2" long, 3/8" deep and 1/4" high) to the bottom shelf of the cabinet the thickness of the drawer front back form the edge. Use a small piece of wood the thickness of your drawer front as a guide. The bottom of the drawer front will contact the stop when closed. Note you may have to notch the bottom of the rear of the drawer to allow for drawer installation and remove (depending on the height of the drawer sides and back. Another approach would be to use similar blocks and the rear of the drawer glued to the bottom, sides or back of the cabinet. Determine the exact distance back from the front of the cabinet to place the stops and cut a scrap piece of wood that exact length to use as a guide to place the blocks. Eric.
I wouldn't bother. Go for a piston fit, and make a small, delicate pull, which will invite a person to open the drawer slowly and carefully.
wdwerker
Make the back taller then add a stop block at the front top inside. Tip the drawer way up and it clears the stop block. I've seen it done this way, I just use metal slides.
