Norm Thordarson
The windows are wrapped with clear fir with a natural finish. Some of the corners have become water stained. So, I’ve managed to sand away the stained areas. Then I sand the whole bottom sill, not completely bare, and apply polyurethane. It either comes out blotchy or the corners where the stains were sanded out are much darker. Tried putting Daily’s wood conditioner on to seal, but darkened the wood also. How can I return the sill to a uniform natural fir finish?
wtnhighlander
I think you will need to strip the entire surface of old finish in order for the new finish to go on evenly.
Tom King
Sills are on the outside. Just checking to see if this is what you are talking about.
