Green Head
I am going to build a hanging front porch swing and wanted to get some input. What kind of wood should I make it from? I am still undecided on whether I will stain it or paint it. So, what kind wood should I use in either case? I was thinking redwood or hickory if I stain it but I'm not sure what to use if it's painted. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Keggers
I'm a fan of cypress wood for my outdoor furniture especially if it's going to see some weather.

Keggers
I'd suggest some type of mildew resistant oil based stain. I have a bench and a couple of chairs that I stained using some left over stain that I had used to stain the cypress wood on the outside of my shop and house. It's made by Pratt and Lambert and is called Stainshield.

iSawitFirst
Iroko. Poor man's Teak. Same great look and rot/insect resistance for half the price.
