msadkin
Hello all. I am new to this site and have a few questions about a 3 HP Grizzly G1023 Table Saw I bought. I have spent a lot of time on the internet trying to find an answer, but it's still not clear to me. I would like to know the best way to wire for this saw. The information with the saw says the unit draws 18 amps and suggests a 30 amp breaker with 12 wire. I thought that 10 wire would be best with the 30 amp breaker. My real concern is if I need to use 10 3 or can I use 10 2. I will not be picking up the saw until tomorrow, but I believe the plug is set up for 3 wires not four. Also, this saw is a 1998 right tilt unit. The gentleman I bought the saw from told me he bought it new and was transferred to a new state one month later. His new shop (ground level and heated) was too small to use the saw comfortably , so he only used it on rare occasions. It still has the original blade and it's still shape enough for cutting hardwood. He gave me a very good deal on it, so I decided to buy it and get used to the right tilt blade. My question is it always a good idea to switch the rip fence to the left side of the blade when making beveled rip cuts, or can it be done safely with the fence right of the blade. Thank you. harryangel69
Ten with 30amp breaker is correct. Don't use 12 with a 30amp breaker. 10/2 with ground will be ok if it is three prong plug. Not sure about the right tilt. Never used one. What little safety thoughts run through my head say don't tilt into the fence. That just screams kickback.

Barring a snow storm, I will be bring the saw home tomorrow. I'm sure I will have more questions after I get into it a bit. Mike
