I’m screwing it into an oak tree at the bottom of my driveway. Turned out great but I’m wondering if I need to spray it with a clear coat of something to make it look even nicer, but more importantly, last even longer. I just used spar varnish, and it held up well for about 3 years, until they moved. Since then, its been in my shop, waiting to get a new street number! Coop Posted August 17, 2021 Report Share Posted August 17, 2021 I used “Cabot Australian Timber Oil” on a couple of cypress outdoor chairs and a cedar gate and they too looked good for about three years. I'll pull it off this weekend and spray with with something that does. JFII Posted August 21, 2021 Report Share Posted August 21, 2021 My bad. I went back through my receipts and found I bought a can VARA SPAR URETHN OIL SAT SPRAY at the same time I bought the numbers.
