Popular Post Jfitz
Well, it's about to begin - I finally got the tools into the basement shop of our new house, so I hope to spend time over the next few weeks getting them placed and set up.
BillyJack
Looking good, but is there a door in the middle of the shop. Get the itchy feeling we are now in the Matrix. I’m nervous and looking for Agent Smith to pop out…

I just wanted to get the tools down there to get them out of storage, which would light a fire under my behind to actually get things set up. It is much much smaller than my old space, but I think I can make it work.

I eventually want to upgrade to the DVR motor.....but for now, changing speeds is not that much of a hassle for me.
Mark J
The DVR motor is a great feature, @Gary Beasley, and I both have it. Unfortunately Teknatool-Nova has discontinued the 1624 lathe. The DVR upgade kits are still out there, but getting harder to find, and they're a lot more expensive than when I bought mine.

I wish I got it when I first saw them. They're almost $1K now, which has me thinking I'll sell this lathe as-is and get a brand new lathe to replace it. We will see. Gary Beasley
Technatool has a new one out, I like the specs on it. Even has a 50rpm drying mode. https://www.teknatool.com/products/lathes/nova-nebula-18-smart-direct-drive-lathe-sku-55600/
Popular Post Jfitz
So I'm at what I'll call "version 1" of my new shop space. I'm sure some additional tweaks to the layout will come, and I still have a lot of stuff in crates that need to go up on the walls. I also need to figure out my router table plan - I think I'll put it on the TS extension wing like I had before. The door that is slightly open is into our (finished) basement. The door with the coats hanging is for the furnace room; the one with the whiteboard goes into a utility space (electric panel, water heater, and some storage). The final door goes to a set of stairs up into the back yard.
GlennL
Looks great!!!! I noticed you're running a filter canister on your DC. I'm in the process of setting mine up with one. Just waiting for a GAMMA2 air tight bucket to arrive tomorrow. Going to mount it on the bottom side, as the cyclone captures 95%. I added another support leg to stiffen the whole thing up. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002DJOMU?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

I've thought about mounting it on the bottom so I can raise the entire assembly up and get a taller barrel - maybe once things are running smoothly I'll look at that.
