IraSch Posted October 20, 2023 Report Posted October 20, 2023 I have some veneer I've been holding onto for a while and will be getting rid of. In order to do that I need to identify the type of wood that each sheet is. I've taken pictures of each as best I can. Any help in identifying the wood species would be appreciated: #1: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/7ejkjirftyvhilbkixn71/2023-07-23-15.31.17.jpg?rlkey=sp7urers7pbcd5b2yg59as72z&dl=0 #2: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/u857563z1z818f7fk0d1a/2023-07-23-15.33.55.jpg?rlkey=zztrkksuowi7g2cv09rrq0kr2&dl=0 #3: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/jj0tj99kfl5emrp2xoj6a/2023-07-23-15.36.01.jpg?rlkey=qbxqqzpn8ifcvgmuce4fzm7yd&dl=0 #4: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/70wvxvz9ne5pvh521u0md/2023-07-23-15.41.23.jpg?rlkey=9p5c2kaeqrh2aj9yr08k1m4vp&dl=0 I'm not sure how to add pictures from dropbox, so I inserted links which I hope will work. Thank you. Quote
wtnhighlander Posted October 20, 2023 Report Posted October 20, 2023 My best guesses: #1-walnut, #2-white oak, #3 - something exotic to North America, #4 - some other oak variety. Pores seem too open for white, too small for red, maybe a European species? 1 Quote
Tom King Posted October 21, 2023 Report Posted October 21, 2023 My guess for 3 would be Cocobolo, but there are others that it could be. 1 Quote
wtnhighlander Posted October 21, 2023 Report Posted October 21, 2023 Cocobolo seem a likely candidate to me, @Tom King. Good call! Quote
