They normally go for about double that price, which seems like a lot.  I just happened to find it for sale on ebay by the guy that designed it for a lot less.  Some of the old toilets in the rental house are plenty clean enough to keep, but are a Lot heavier than newer ones.  I think the bolts are brass coated steel.  One has rusted away, so I expect the others won't be far behind.  There are four in there, two down in the little bathroom house on the point that I haven't gotten back to yet, and two bathrooms that came gutted behind the little white office building.  I was not looking forward to doing all those, but the thought of this has eliminated the dread.

I bought a pair of these closet bolts from Ace hardware to fix the last one with, and they're my current favorite.  A seller on ebay is selling them 5 pair for a little less than $18.  Amazon has single pairs for about 1/2 of Ace Hardware price.

These are my favorite closet bolt caps.  I don't like to have a plastic washer under the 316 stainless 5/16x1-1/4 fender washers I like to use.  These screw down to seat on top of the stainless washers.  Some of the washer still shows, but I don't mind that.  Amazon has these

You have to use regular hex nuts on those fast set bolts to be able to use the screw on caps, so my kit includes those bolts, stainless fender washers, regular brass hex nuts, and the screw on caps.

edited to add:  Plus I get to deduct all of it against the rental income.

I found the inventor sells directly on ebay for half the price it goes for in other places.  My back is not getting any younger, and I will have more to set, so I ordered one.  I was never quite satisfied with the guesswork involved in setting one anyway.  One saved hurting back will be worth this.

At first glance I thought it was to help old people sit down like recliners in a nursing home.  Then I noticed the plumbing.
