Mark J Posted February 5, 2024 Report Posted February 5, 2024 @gee-dub, how are you doing? Are you getting (too) much rain in your usually arid area of California? 1 Quote
Mark J Posted February 5, 2024 Author Report Posted February 5, 2024 Just realized that @Chet is in California, too. So let me revise the above post: How are all our friends on the west coast doing during this weather event? 1 Quote

We had a way above average 24 hour period of rain, 2.05 inches, and a two day total of around 3.5 inches where I live. It is considered a flood plain but decades back the local water district put in a series of berms that keep us well protected. But there is a lot of debris on the roads from the high winds. I found a few shingles from someone's roof in my back yard. Parts of San Jose did have some serious flooding but nothing that took lives. Lots of power outages but again we are fortunate that our utilities are all underground. 6 Quote
Popular Post gee-dub Posted February 6, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted February 6, 2024 Not too dramatic down here. The unusual thing has been the duration. Around me the flood control pathways, berms, and channels have kept the water flowing. We have bands of granite and clay for soil. Once the ground gets soaked the water starts running and we can get flash flooding in the arroyo-like areas. All is well with us though. 6 Quote
