Scooter67
I posted a little while back about building a toy organizer. I am still trying to find the best material. I was wondering if any has used solid board panel. I attached a jpeg of the label I saw at my local Lowes. It is the width I want and it looks study for tops and sides. I am wondering how it takes screws and edges being routered to remove sharp edges. Anyone know about this materials? To me it looks better than plywood and MDF (MDF is definately out since it is for kids and I want it to last. I do not have a planer or joiner so getting a 1X12" the length and getting it perfectly parallel will not be easy. Also, I just some really nice hand planes from Woodcrafters and they are covered with this oil grease coating. How do I remove this without making it rusty? Vic
From the description, I'm just guessing, but it seems like it's a pine plywood. Kinda funky to finish. But, if you seal it well, you can probaby get what you need from it.
harryangel69
I have seen these they are just 1x16s instead of 1x12s in like a select grade. Not plywood, but you do need to watch for warping and cupping.
Sac
AS for cleaning up the handplanes, just use some mineral spirits to clean them off. What did ya get?
Scooter67
AS for cleaning up the handplanes, just use some mineral spirits to clean them off. What did ya get? I got two GROZ planes. They came in a set from Woodcrafters. They were on sale for $50.00 plus $10.00 sharpening fee. They are a #2 and #4 plane. I probably should have looked on ebay for a better price but the sale was pretty good at least I thought so.
