AceHoleInOne
I understand the friction finish process while the piece is on the lathe. However, I have a few bowls I need to turn for family. I was thinking about the topcoats. I usually spray finish my bowls like a piece of furniture, off the lathe, water-based. My question to you is…have/do you use a sprayer, either an airbrush or say a small spray gun…hell, even a spray can of Shellac or solvent Lacquer (the spray bombs) to deliver finishes to the piece while still spinning in the lathe? Any reason why you wouldn’t try it? What say you? -Ace-
TimV
I haven't sprayed while on the lathe. I, like you, have done the hand applied finishes while on the lathe. I've heard of spraying on the lathe quite frequently. Although I spray furniture frequently, I'm not setup in my basement shop with my lathe location to spray.
