duckkisser
i was told by a turner that i can use BLO to sand after 300 wet dry paper. that is what i have been using but i see so many turners using sanding wax mixture of bees wax and mineral oil. what is the difference? is one better then the other? will the wax not cake onto the sandpaper as badly as the linseed oil? will i get a better finish? will i get the sanding done faster if i use the wax over the linseed oil? will there be less sawdust as im sanding? sbarton22
Every project requires its own finish and technique. Bees wax and mineral oil, in my mind, lends itself to food safe uses. That is how I finish a cutting board. For a display bowl, I don't see the need to go there as there are much better means to provide the look and texture you want. duckkisser
i agree but this isent necissarly a finish that they use its almost more about a sanding lubricant. cooking some up now to try in the morning and see how i feel about it.
