duckkisser Posted April 6, 2012 Report Share Posted April 6, 2012 my classroom is going to get a couple of lathes we are going to mostly turn small iteams like pens and decorations so i need a decent lathe for as cheap as i can get it. if we can fit it inot the budget we might get three lathes instead of two. if you have any ideas please let me know. duckkisser Posted April 6, 2012 Author Report Share Posted April 6, 2012 the rikon is 350-399 for a 12-16 1/2 hp pen state 350 for a 10-16 3/4 motor going to get a 8 tpi #2 mandrel shaft so stuff i have for my lathe can be used on school lathes so my mandrels and accessories will match. im kinda leaning towards the pen stat because of biger motor what do you guys think? any other brands like shop fox any good?
