Dave H
I need to make some new sleds for my new saw, and I'm wondering which material is better Apple Ply, or Baltic Birch. I can get Baltic Birch near my home, but need to go 60 miles to get the Apple Ply, also have never used the Apple Ply before, although I've Read good things about it. dcustoms
I would just stick with the Baltic Birch. It is going to be perfectly stable and a good choice for you project. Any additional benefits of apply ply wont really be noticeable enough to justify a 60 mile drive (at $4.50 a gallon).
Vic
My understanding is they are the same thing in terms of the ply. The only significant difference is supposed to be that apple ply is made for the US market at our standard 4' x 8' sheets and Baltic Birch is metric ~ 5' square. So, I'd go for the closest product. Dave H
Thanks for the responses, it probly makes sense to go for the closer product.
Sac
+1 for the baltic birch if it is right there. I also need to make a few of those. Make sure you post some pics. Love to get ideas.
Bobby Slack
I am soooo glad I read this because a couple of years ago I bought 1/2" appleply and was so expensive that I was looking for the right application for it. Something worth investing ... and I just found it. Thank you ....
