ok some lathes have a head that can be spun and use as a outboard lathe for biger bowls. well when i was cleaning the lathe i noticed the heads crank is threded. is it possible to put a chuck on there and turn. even if it was just for sanding the bottoms of bowls? i dont want to break my lathe so anyone that knows anything about lathes specificly the 460 please put in some input.

There is the manual for that model , it doesn't look like its supposed to be turned around unfortunately, as for switching the faceplate to the back side instead, it may work, even if you need to get a thread adapter. But there is probably a reason they wouldn't advertise it as a feature if it was possible to do safely or without hurting the lathe
