nuetzij
Has anyone built a clock with wood gears using a CNC router? What brand CNC router was used? What Software? What kind of issues did you come across? Has anyone built a Clayton Boyer clock using a CNC router? Any issues there getting the gear pics from paper to the router? I am currently building two Clayton clocks by hand. The gears I created (via a band saw or scroll saw), aren't the best. I wouldn't mind looking into a cnc router. Any help on this topic would be appreciated. Thanks

baok
Wow I can't believe I missed this thread. Yes I have used a CNC machine and I have used Clayton Boyer's plans. I actually built his Copernican Planetary Orrery. I used a ShopBot CNC router to cut the gears. Obviously I had to have an electronic version of the gears to feed the CNC with; I counted the teeth on Clayton's plan and then used the program at woodgears.ca to create the electronic version. I bought his gear generator program because it was pretty cheap, and it was cool, and works great. I actually wrote a build blog of the project - I'll post a link later - I'm using my phone at the moment to write this and I'm at the limit of my abilities. :-)
