tim0625
I have a Jet 18" band saw. I need some table inserts. What brand and material do you like? Thanks

dwacker
Im curious as to why you need inserts, beyond the one that came with the saw.
tim0625
It was aluminum and when I got the saw, it was just a little caved in....and now I've changed blades and it ran out the door.
AceHoleInOne
Rockler has them... AKA, zero clearance inserts. Not very expensive. -Ace-
Trip
==>curious as to why you need inserts Because mag adverts, paid talking heads and ‘reviews’ all say they're great...
minorhero
You don't need to have them. If you want one then rockler zero clearance plastic ones work great. They come in a bag with a handful of inserts. They get the job done and are pretty cheap.
dwacker
I would just call that manufacturer and get a new aluminum insert. The only time an insert should get damaged is when a band breaks and thats easily fixed with sandpaper otherwise they will out live the rest of the saw. tim0625
Whatever damaged it, before I got it, definitely won't be fixed with sandpaper and I don't need it because some magazine said I did. The thing is concave. It's like the blade came off, and a tooth grabbed it on the way down and bent it inwards. Last question....is the size standardized at least among manufacturers? If it says "Jet 14" will it fit my 18"?
dwacker
This one is for a 24" powermatic. 2.5". I've bent it quite a few times and beat flat with hammer and block of wood, good as old.
tim0625
Yeah, I've done the same thing but I can't find the one that came off.
