Beechwood Chip
I have two ornamental cherry trees that died, probably from a variety of causes including root girdling. Trunks are maybe a foot in diameter. I don't have the space to season the wood, so I'm just going to have the landscapers take them down. Is it worth trying to salvage the wood? Tpt life
You can usually get boxes (both small traditional and band sawn), pulls, or tool handles out of those kind of logs.
wtnhighlander
Should make good turning stock.
Beechwood Chip
I think I'll just take the two trunks and move them into my cellar. I don't have the time or energy right now to do any milling. I can turn them into woodworking or firewood at some later date, when the wood is drier and I get a round tuit.
Popular Post Keggers
You might want to consider de-barking the logs before taking them into your house. You might be bringing in a host of unwanted insects like powder post beetles.

Stumpnav
Cherry, for firewood? GASP!! It would be perfect for the smoker...pork shoulder would be best...brisket would be second...this time of year, it would be dove breast with a piece of jalepeno, wrapped with bacon, smoked with cherry wood for about an hour then finished off on the grill if need be. Sounds so good I might drive to Philly and buy it off of you!
Beechwood Chip
I don't smoke, but if you are a smoker or turner who's willing to come pick it up, you can PM me. The trees aren't down yet. I should know the schedule in a few days.
