wdwerker Posted December 29, 2016 Report Share Posted December 29, 2016 They are waxed because the wood is basically green when they are cut. The wax slows down any cracking. If you rough turn the block and weigh it when the weight stabilizes you can put it back on the lathe and finish turning it. It may change shape to something like an oval as it dries. You can put the bowl in a garbage bag with the shavings you turned off of it. Just gently twist the bag closed. Check the weight maybe once a week.
