rmac
I finally got tired of the wimpy little tool rests that came with my grinder, and made this thing: It's much better. dlamulle
Mac, All I can say is wow. I've complained about my grinder and the flimsy bracket for years but never thought of using plywood to make one. I feel like DUH, I'm a woodworker why didn't I think of that. Thanks so much for sharing this great idea with us, I think it's on my list now for an upcoming weekend project. Dave

rmac
Dave, You're welcome! For some reason when I read your post I suddenly realized that it would be very easy to replace the top, sliding platform on my tool rest with any number of specialized attachments. The first one that comes to mind is something like the chisel and plane iron jig that Veritas sells to go with their tool rest. Another possibility would be one or more specialized platforms to get just the right angles on various lathe chisels. Etc. -- Russ
