Murf1
Making raised panel kitchen cabinet doors, cope and stick with loose tenons, using finishing oil. Do I finish the panel first, glue up the panel and frame assembly, fit the door up, then finish the completed glued up door? I dont want panel shrinkage to expose unfinished parts of the panel if I assemple first then finish. Also, not sure if glue will stick to a finished board. Please adise, thanks
wdwerker
I always build the door, center the panel and pin the center ,top and bottom on the width, from the back face. Then finish. The centered pin lets the panel expand and contract equally on both sides.
Boatworks Today
Very similar to Steve, except I typically glue the center rather than pin :-)
Tom King
I always finish any panel before assembly.
Jerry_in_SD
If staining, I stain prior to assembly, but finish ( top coat ) after assembly.
