mikepawlik
I put a coat of shellac over my stainb as a sealer. One section I must not have brushed out evenly and there are ridges. How do I get them out? Thanks.
PaulMarcel
hmm, sanding would be risky because of the stain. Since shellac dissolves itself, try feathering on another light coat. Dilute the shellac considerably to maybe a 1/2" coat so you have more DNA dissolving out the ridges than building. BTW, welcome to the forum! AceHoleInOne
Paul's suggestion works, I like to go the add more finish route, get more of a build of shellac going. That way you have enough finish to sand flat and smooth, not have to worry about cutting through to the stain. Block sanding works great, use 320 paper. Then apply your last coat as Paul suggested, thinner cut. -Ace-
Bob Rozaieski
Denatured alcohol redissolves shellac, so you can just rub the finish some with a cloth lightly dampened with DNA and you should be able to get the ridges down.
