EvilNuff
+1 on a chair build!
Chris H
Well, there isn't a plan yet. That said, after this is built I will indeed have a mismatched set of chairs to go with my new table. So it isn't out of the question. And depending on how things go this Winter, the accompanying chairs could very well end up on the free site. I'd recommend one of your seating options be a long bench on at least one side. They are amazingly useful when you have little ones. You can fit a whole gaggle of kids in the space or one of two adults with a bench. thewoodwhisperer
Yeah I was planning on it. That's what we have now and it works great.
CubsFan
Apologies if this was discussed somewhere, but any thoughts on how hard it would be to make some sort of a system to have a couple of leaves in it? I'd love to make it 4-5' long, but maybe expandable by another 3'?
thewoodwhisperer
No discussion so far since the "as-is" design won't really allow for it. But hopefully someone will whip out sketchup and start playing with various top alternatives. I know the inset top won't work in every situation. Chris H
The big downside to leaves is that it takes away the option to store alternate tops/playing surfaces inside. For me, that's what ultimately killed that option. Even just storing leaves is pain. If we had to store the leaves and gaming surfaces, it kind of defeats one of the primary benefits of a gaming and dining table in one.
