Popular Post gee-dub
As a disclaimer, Woodsmith bought this one so you may see it in their tips sections or videos. . . The Helping Hand at the Assembly/Outfeed Table thread prompted me to add this. To make it more easily searchable (search-resultable?) I am giving it its own thread for what its worth. A 5-3/4" square with a 3/4" hole drilled through; 1-3/8" from one edge and 2-3/8" from a perpendicular edge (or suit yourself). Glue in a 3/4" dowel of a length that suits your use. You now have a dog that can be one inch away: Two inches away: Three inches away: Or four inches away: Saves a lot of handle cranking if you are working a piece that needs to be turned frequently or a series of longer and short boards in a set.
Chet
That is similar to the Veritas Inset vise in that I can move the jaw to one of two places about 4 inches apart. It is nice to not have to crank it that much.
