Popular Post gee-dub
I had to use a v-groove bit while making an accessory for my shooting board today. As long as the bit was chucked I thought it was high time I made a new one of these. I have used this pathetic piece of scrap to drill round stock and cross cut dowels at the bandsaw for too many years. The new version is made from a scrap of pecan. Unlike its predecessor, this one is milled square . . . and uses a dovetail groove clamp gizmo . . . Just another one of those things I never seem to gt around to that I finally did.
wdwerker
Nice jig ! Those dovetail clamps are a little pricey but I keep finding more uses for them. Sometimes I have to go take them off one set up to use them somewhere else. Might get some more if they are on sale.

About 20yrs ago I made mine out of scrap 2x4 and screwed it to a piece of 3/4 AC ply. Oh the shame. Now I have to remake it because I really like the dovetail groove and pretty wood. Keep the tips coming gee-dub!

Yeah, I shoulda mentioned that I have been tripping over that piece of scrap for a few years. It had a crack in it (but was just too purdy to burn) that the long groove removed. Any reasonably stable wood will do the job. The old one made from a piece of 2x4 would have worked "forever", I just made it a little short way back when.
