wdwerker
Scrounging shelving & fixtures for shop use is a good thing. One of the best shop organization cabinets I have is a stack of 2 architect's flat files for storing prints. I got them from a company that got evicted. Popular Post JosephThomas
Still a work in progress, but I made a few of these last month...modified the plans from the guy at benchworks.be I still need to make the "drawer fronts" which secures them in place better and gives you something to grab for pulling the drawer out. I was able to use mostly scraps, and I cut parts for 1 or 2 more as well, just doing it little by little as I have time. The grooves give the 'feet on each case somewhere to hide, otherwise all the weight transfers to them and distorts the box, also keeps them from sliding side to side. Picked a length of slide (with over-travel) that would let the boxes extend far enough to keep the lid open, otherwise the whole system is pretty useless Planning on putting most of the drawers down into more of these cabinets eventually, and then I'm going to put down an mdf/ply top with a few dog-holes in it, but it looks like this for now: Had to cut and shim 2x4s for the base that would counteract the huge slope to the floor, and adding a 1/2" sheet good on top will get it level with my workbench height, which is nicely tuned for my body size. Gives me more ability to work on long stuff in my small space when needed. The boxes themselves were not cheap, but I bought them patiently as each kind went on sale on amazon over the last year or so. They are very helpful for when I bring a few tools over to a family-member or friend's house to help out with a job, otherwise I probably would have just built a bank of cabinets. Edit: I don't see any smart comments from the festool ppl yet, and it's been like 20 min. @shaneymack fight me. 4
shaneymack
The cabinet looks great! It's too bad it's littered with those black a yellow cases!!

Those things are nice. I got all different sizes though. I showed just one drawer, but I actually have all my drawers in that tool box fitted with various size containers, and I have enough to fill another tool box -just haven't procured another yet. It has cost a couple hundred dollars but absolutely worth it. I probably double my storage density with these things.
