Joe7
gee-dub, That's quite a unit you rigged - never would have thought to do it without a traditional shop vacuum. I bet it moves a lot of air-looks very efficient. I'll look for denser material for seal, thanks!
Joe7
I think one of my buckets has a ring like that. Might make a better seal with the ring.

If you do find something with a ring or rounded lip, you can do something like I did, this is for a 33 gal trash can but the concept is the same. I made a slip ring for the can added weather stripping and then made a lid with a groove to fit over the ring. I added silicone calk to the groove to help the seal. Used threaded inserts and shop made knobs, cut a hole for the SDD and was done. I added a sight window after the fact.
Joe7
Bob - you must have a lot of chips! Nice job on your set-up and good idea for the seal-thanks! Joel

Yeah, Ridgid makes a couple of vacs that have detachable blowers designed with the intention of using them as leaf vacs / yard blowers. Easier to adapt than cannibalizing a regular vac. Laziness breeds innovation .
Joe7
gee-dub, I use a leaf blower to give my garage shop a good cleaning - never thought of using that power for dust suction - smart!
