Looking for a matte finish

There are plenty of finishes that come in satin or dull sheens. Flattening agents will settle to the bottom of the can and will need to be stirred well to get them evenly mixed into the entire can before using. Lacquers and some waterbourne finishes are available in dull sheen but won't probably be stocked at the local home center.  Some companies may call it flat.

Another approach is to rub out the finish with an abrasive pad.
