singlespeed68
Today I purchased some 2x6s from Home Depot for stretchers for a workbench I'm building. I rough cut them and have them sitting on there edeges. Is tomorrow to early to start face glueing them together. Usually I wait a week or two. They are in my basement where my shop is located. thewoodwhisperer
What species did you pick up? If its construction lumber, I'd get those puppies glued up ASAP. Normally we like to let things acclimate. But construction lumber tends to be loaded with moisture. So the sooner you get it incorporated into a project and locked down, the better. Like Marc says, it depends on what you have. If it's wet, it's gonna move as it dries. In my area, the construction lumber (hem-fir) is kiln dried and fairly stable, so I can typically work with it within a couple of days bringing it into the shop and not worry too much about working with it right away after rough cutting. Gee, I dunno. I'm going to go against the grain, so to speak. I would sticker them sitting on their faces and leave them for a week. Then I would flatten them and do the glue-up. If glued up wet, I'd worry about splitting later on.
