Popular Post curlyoak
This is Night blooming cerous. This cactus can yield a delicious fruit known as dragon fruit. To get a good one it needs to be ripened on the vine makes it not good commercially. Mine would not yield. I got one in thirty years. I started to read about some need pollen from another cactus. I have been on the lookout for a long time. Recently a club that focuses on tropical fruit has an annual event. I found the expert on the cactus. The bloom opens at dusk and falls off in the morning. It must be pollinated before light. An expert from the club brought pollen from her cactuses that were blooming at the same time. And pollinated around 20 flowers. My hopes are there will be a dragon fruit orgy in about a month. Now I know the method and I am starting another cactus for a pollen source.
Coop
Can you not be a surrogate pollinator and give him/her a hand?

Popular Post curlyoak
Possibly not for sight feeders. Not an appetizing look. But it does taste delicious. I was given cuttings with viable pollen. In a year or 2 I will be self sufficient on pollenating.

Chet
No, I don't actually know anyone that has the plants. I wouldn't mind trying one.
