Callowfurniture
Hi all, I'm in the middle of a farmhouse table and I will be using breadboard ends. It occurred to me that the table top is 6 boards wide (usually I would have 5) Usually I glue the middle tenon and have the others just float with a draw bore dowel as standard. But now because I essentially have 2 middle tenons (not cut yet) my questions are! Do I glue the two center tenons and let the others float? Do i make a tenon in the actual center using a portion of each of the two middle boards? I'd appreciate if anyone who has used 6 boards before to give their input and results. Cheers
gee-dub
I would glue the middle left and right halves of the center boards. But that's me ;-) The boards will still expand out from center
wtnhighlander
If you are doing the dowels anyway, glue is kinda optional.

Thank you for the comment and visual aid.
Ronn W
Since you glued the 6 boards together (all the way to the ends) you really have one wide board and the tenons can straddle the joints.
