Coop
Funny you should ask. A local hole in the wall we frequent for breakfast has just the answer. I was looking at one of their chairs yesterday and realized how they did it. Their chair frame was metal tubing but wood frames can be a substitute. The show side was upholstered with the same, I would imagine, material wrapped around the front of the ply and stapled on the backside. The backside was done in the same manor, with the show side on the back. The two were then screwed together with the frame wedged between the two, from the backside, using countersunk finish washers. Hope that makes sense. Welcome to the forum.
wtnhighlander
I have seen "button-tucked" uphostelry attached by using screws through special washers. The "buttons" are actually decorative caps that snap over the washers after installation.
legenddc
Depending on the design, I could see a French cleat being used to attach the upholstered plywood to a seat back. I imagine that would be highly dependent on the design to work. If it's a flat panel going on a bench I think you could make it work.
