Firehawk
Hi All, My 30 year old son wanted a storage bed to go with his tempur-pedic mattress. The material is all red oak, except for the cedar lining. The finish is golden oak minwax stain with 4 coats of water based polyurethane, 400 grit sanding between coats. Since we are beginners we went with pocket screws for the joinery. The project is not quite complete as we still need to make caps for the corner posts. Beechwood Chip
Oooh! I want one of those! How much did you spend on the wood?

Firehawk
Oooh! I want one of those! How much did you spend on the wood? The wood was around $600. Most of it was purchased 2 years ago, anything we bought recently was more expensive.
cowchaser
Looks nice. Almost reminds me of a waterbed my parents use to have.
SunshineGerl
Wow...look at all that functional storage underneath. I really like that you created some extra storage with this design. I built a platform bed for my temper-pedic mattress...but no storage under it (since it's quite low to the ground for design reasons). I bet your son loves his new bed!!! Great job. ~Sunshine Gerl
