duckkisser Posted September 27, 2011 Report Share Posted September 27, 2011 ok i made a solution that blackens dark wood to almost solid black.( http://www.wwgoa.com/articles/projects/ebonizing-wood/)and i have used baking soda to clean my blades.i was wondering if anyone else knows of any home made do it yourself finishes or solutions? something that you might just pull out of the kitchen cubard? I'm not entirely certain how but I'm sure a person could find a "recipe" online somewhere. Also I don't know if this counts but I buy my "router/sanding pads" in Wal-mart's kitchen aisle. They sold as drawer liners and work just as well as the ones sold specifically for wood shop use. Rodger, You may want to double check me on this but I believe that Windex may lead to Hydrogen embrittlement when used on a carbide saw blade. But I've been wrong before.
