bclark
Mac, I recently picked up a new Jet 14" Bandsaw and set it up after watching your video on Bandsaw Set-up/tune-up. I started using it and after a few cuts the blade jumped off the wheel. I tried to increase the tension on the blade thinking that was the problem, however it happened again when I tried to use it again. Do you have any thoughts as to what might be going on? Cheers, Brendan
Texfire
I've got that model. On the backside of the saw near the top wheel is a small knob used to adjust the angle of the wheel to adjust tracking. Unplug the saw, then turn the wheels by hand while adjusting the knob. You'll see the blade tracking back and forth on the wheel as you adjust the tracking, until you have it set to ride on the center of the tire. Skunkeye
Absolutely look at the tracking, open the wheel doors and turn them by hand to make sure the blade is tracking centrally, make sure the tires are in good repair and centered up, make sure the blade guides are properly adjusted. Jfitz
+1 on adjusting the tracking. After that, make sure the blade guides are properly adjusted - both above and below the table.
thewoodwhisperer
I know this was dropped in the "ask marc" section, but there are a lot of smart folks here. nothing I can add to the advice. Moving post to power tool forum.
Jfitz
Haha - sorry Marc, didn't mean to invade your turf! I usually refrain from posting replies in this section, but totally spaced out on this one.
Texfire
Whoops, I saw this in the new posts list, missed which section it was from.
bclark
Thanks for the advice. I had checked and adjusted the tracking and it was still walking off the wheel. I have since went through everything again and adjusted all of the blade guides and tracking and I increased the tension on the blade. It seems to work fine now. Thanks for the advice.
