Table Saw Ripping

Okay, here's my dilemma. Ripping wood without my bladeguard on my table saw, bladeguard does not work with my zero clearance insert.

I am looking at either the MagJig Dual Roller Fence & Universal featherboard $76 OR the Mesa Vista Design GT2000 42-Inch Magnetic Featherboard System $150. Anyone have any experience or knowledge in these types of jigs/featherboards?

Do you want to buy a new system or would you be happy using your saws bladeguard if you could just extend the slot on your zero clearance insert?

I ended doing just this. I extended the blade kerf lines, then figured out where I needed to make the mortise. A 1/8" drill bit and a thin file made a sufficient hole where I could insert my splitter/ dust hood through the zero clearance insert. You might want to investigate doing this before plunking down any money on an aftermarket system.
