man of wood
I have a chuck that has three jaws and they are not big and have three steps to each one. is this safe to use??? I goto a lot sales and and if I wish to buy something for my lathe that threads on to it, how do I know what thread size to buy. I'm sure they are not all the same, and I can't bring my lathe with me to try it first before buying. Thomas
duckkisser
what type of lathe is it find that out and the model number. look it up on a search you can probably put in the lathe number and find out the thread count. as for the jaws it depends on size of the jaws and the project in mind. if your making a base ball bat i would not trust tiny jaws to hold something that long if its small like if your making a bottle opener i think you will be fine. what kind of lathe? what size jaws are they? what do you want to make? i need more information to answer you questions.
