Indy Cindy
How do you all recommend signing your bowls?
duckkisser
wood burner works just fine or you can come up with you own signiture. seen an artist that on his projects that he cuts a small circle with a forstner bit and then he glues in a penny. i want to get a personilized wood burner that wold leave behind a feather. if anyone know a decent burner company that does not cost 500 dollers let me know want to go cheap but not super duper cheap so i get junk. Hybrid-woodworker
I normally have a recess in the bottom and print the species, date and my name. My turning is better than my penmanship so I just print. I use a sharpie marker in a contrasting color. BRuce
jwatson
i just use sharpies to mark the stuff i turn on the bottom.
TimV
I use a woodburner with a pointy tip. It is basically a soldering iron.
carverken
I too use a writing tip on my burner. I write my initials, year and species of wood. I do the year because I dont produce enough for a month and year. I only do my bowls not spindles, stoppers or pens.
jHop
I don't want anybody to know I did it, so I just take a photo for my records.... Most of the stuff I've turned out (no pun intended) has been too small for a decent maker's mark. I do have one planned, and fortunately a sharp marking knife can cover it. beyond that, though, I do a separate file.
Indy Cindy
What I ended up doing is using a PITT Artist Penn by Faber Castell with a super fine point. It is waterproof India ink. I got it at JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts.
