rodger.
Not sure about all the current hype about brushless. I have some tools that are 15 years old, have had loads of use, and the brushes are still doing great. Do hobbiests ever wear out brushes? wtnhighlander
Brushless motors and good dust collection have another benefit: No brushes to spark and no clouds of dust mean your shop won't accidentally become a fuel/air bomb. atratinus
Why is a Ferrari more expensive than a Ford Focus? Because Ferrari buyers have small --'s and too much money. Far more work gets done with a Ford Focus.
..Kev
Because Ferrari buyers have small --'s and too much money. Far more work gets done with a Ford Focus. You might be correct on the first point, I'm not going to check for accuracy of the statement. If you're correct on the second part, that would depend on your definition of "work" and it wouldn't include comfort and efficiency along the way. Eric.
LOL Yeah, far more work gets done with a Ford Focus because that's what working people can afford. But you're right...Ferrari, Focus...same thing really. Just four wheels and a windshield. Rich guys who plunk down a quarter mil on a car are just being duped into paying 10 times more for absolutely no reason. Those silly rich guys. Tom Cancelleri
I've worn brushes out on tools. Changed the brushes on a sawbuck, dremel, and on a drill. Brushless motors are more efficient and can be more powerful since the windings are on the outside of the motor configuration so there is more area for more windings.
Raefco
My thing on brushless is torque, heat and vibration. When your putting show quality paint job on a basket case you don't spend hours sanding it's more like weeks, air tools, for the most part stay cool, brushes make heat.
